3 options: (i) public schools (nominally free) (ii) private schools (fees range from, say, $1,000 to $20,000 p.a.) (iii) home schooling Rules and regulations vary from state to state. –––––––––––––––––– For NSW: https://www.det.nsw.edu.au/index.htm http://www.schools.nsw.edu.au/ http://www.privateschoolsdirectory.com.au/

Most children don't do home schooling but there definately are some kids out there who do it. Public schools are funded by the government and usually the parents who send them have to pay either a very small amount of money or a 'donation' to the school. Private schools aren't funded by the government and so the parents have to pay the fees. For a private primary school the price can be around $800 a year. In a private highschool, it can be anywhere from $5000 - $20,000 per year. The school I go to is private but partially funded by the government, so it's not as expensive as other highschools. My parents pay about $6000. However some highschools can have very low prices ($1000-4000), but generally, you can attain a better education in schools priced over $5000. Also, some schools are co-ed which means that there are both male and female students. While other schools are same sex.
