I believe the minimum school leaving age is 16 or year 10. Which it has been for many years. When my parents where at school (30+ years ago) most students left at the end of year 10, only those going on to university stayed until the end of year 12, now times have changed most students stay until year 12 regardless of if they plan to go to University.

University of NSW conducts annual tests for school students in Australia and some other countries in certain subjects. Is there anyone who can give me the total number of year 4 students appeared for the Science subject in 2008 in Victoria (Australia)

If he seems ready to start school you should let him. You could hold him back and let him start next year. There is no one right answer for every child.

Where I live they must turn 5 before October. My daughter's birthday is in December so she can't go until next year. That means she will be turning 6 a few months after starting Kindergarten. So she will be older than many of her classmates. You can have your child tested to see if he is ready to start Kindergarten, but I chose to let her go to preschool for another year to help her social skills.
