How are the School's in Australia

How are the School's in Australia?
Hi i was wondering how the Australian system education works. Is their high school until secondary 5 or until secondary 4? Is there primary? Do u go to the same school for college or to a another? Is it difficult to get in too university? and do u have to wear uniforms? And i herd a rumor that in Australia u pass one hole day of the week just doing sports is that true also?

School is divided into two stage - Primary and High school. Primary school goes from kindergarten to grade six (from ages 5-12), and then high school from grade seven to twelve. Most, if not all, schools have a uniform. Some are more strict than others. There isn't a whole day every week for sports, but in high school there is two or three hours a week where sport is compulsory until year twelve (sometimes eleven). In primary school there is a similar sport time and general activities each day. Each year there is one whole day for a sports carnival in both primary and high school, and a swimming carnival. If by college you mean secondary education (after year twelve) you can go pretty much wherever you want, as long as you get the marks required in your HSC (Higher School Certificate - year twelve exams/assesments) So, no, it is not that difficult to get into university if you know what you want to do and aim for the marks. If you don't get the marks, you can always find other ways in, like studying something with less marks required and then changing over. In Australia we have a system called HECS, where the Government pays for you degree and you repay it when you graduate and earn an income. But you can pay it all at once if you like and it will cost you less (still upwards of $10,000, depending what you study) Hope that answers your questions!

Well its very basic, when you are 5 you go into kindy to year 6 (primary school) then you go to high school which goes to year 7 to year 12. In year 11 you chose your subjects for the HSC which is a test that allows you to go to university. But in year 9 and 10 you can chose 2 or 3 electives, you still have to do all the boring subjects like Australian history and geography! my god it is boring! i want to learn about the world not just australia! if you fail any subject in year 11 you can't do it for year 12. In year 12 all your marks including tests and assessments go towards a uai which is your overall mark from year 12 and that determines what you can do in university. I think if you want to do law or medicine its something like 99.86 ( the top is 100) so it is hard! i am in year 10 now but i am doing a year 11 course.
