When you were at School- did you learn about other countries

When you were at School- did you learn about other countries?
In Australia- Primary School, of course we had subjects like Australian Studies,Australian History. Many schools taught American studies also...nothing else...unless you chose to learn a language, the language class would touch on very basically that particular country. Which countries are taught to Greek children at school?

in USA we mostly learn about american history which ofcourse involved Britain but in 6th grade we had a class called geography (my favorite class) where we learned about Asia, Africa, The Middle East, South America etc... also in elementary school we learned about Rome, Ancient Greece, and Egypt. We studied Greek mythology more in freshman year of highschool which was very interesting. In 11th grade of highschool we studied Germany and surrounding countries with the Holocaust and World War 2 as well.

does geography count in primary school?in secondary & high we learned world history about severals countries & ancient civilizations that were involved in some, more or at all way with my country.*******[greek cigar in case you take a look you will get your 100 euros if you read my text pal ;) ] @ plostad troll your country with that name is fake & pretender of another genuine land we have in greece which is MACEDONIA[ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ].in the worst case of scenario[if the universe turns upside down] that you have some right in your country's title you could name it north/northern slavic macedonia.they must be included all the 3 words so the worldwide community can understand that you are different from the macedonians in greece & you are only a part of a whole land.bulgaria has also land that was in greek macedonia...if they wanted they could declare a new country too with the name: bulgarian macedonian republic.the whole world will learn about your misfortune, confusion & big mistake to even considerate your soil as genuine macedonian!your fake land's flag don't even belong to you!

I don't think you can say a particular country is taught to Greek children. Geography is pretty detailed, and you get the chance to learn a lot about all continents and their countries. History is a different thing. Greece has been involved one way or the other in some of the most important moments in history, so we learn a lot about history and the countries involved. We focus on European history a lot. Middle Ages, Renaissance, European Wars, Empires..... But we don't have separate American studies or Chinese studies or Australian studies for example, focusing on one country alone. Our World History focuses on the most important historical events around the world and not on a specific country.

In Greece... In Primary school I remember we learnt only about Greece. Peripheries, regions etc. In Junior High School we learnt about Europe and Greece. In Lyceum we learnt about the whole globe and its history including Greece.

When over half century, I was in school, the lesson of Geography was one of the main subjects almost right from the first grade. We did a lot of things starting from the closest to us, environment. That was learning of the physical morphology of ground and seas. Progressively, we learned of our prefecture, its morphology, its villages, its characteristics. Then the next years we learned of Greece as a whole, of Europe, and finally of the world That subject was one of my favorite and I can claim that things learned then, were more than often found staring me during my adult life. One other aspect that helped me in life was that I was a stamp collector, from the age of 8. The beautiful world of stamps from various countries and the depicted on them various subjects, helped me learn more of those countries. So many little details learned from all those little pieces of paper. Later on in Gymnasium the geography lesson was more serious, but the background I had accumulated on the subject from lessons and stamps helped me enormously, in both my hobby and my life.

I'm a temporary resident in Australia, do I still get school laptop in year 9?
I'm a temporary resident, not a permanent AUSTRALIAN resident. I was just wondering if I will get a school laptop in year nine (next year) because it will be pretty embarrassing not getting one. Please, I need an answer.

Interesting question - possibly possibly not. When you leave the school it will have to be returned (the moment you log in from overseas it will be disabled completely). Ask the school
