Is Bond University a good school

Is Bond University a good school?
I was thinking of going to grad school in Australia. Either for business or law. So I was looking into schools for that. It says on Bond's website that they are the best university in Australia. I know incredibly little about it though or about schools in Australia in general. Maybe some here could give me some good advice. They are basing this on the "good university guide." But when I look up their reference, I don't see anything that proves it.

I'd query where Bond is getting their data from. Bond is a private university which means it doesn't get ranked on any international or national scale so unless they quoted a study then you don't know for sure what they meant. It is, however, the largest and most well known private university in Australia. I've heard good things about it, but each university has certain fields in which it excels. I don't know whether it's particularly good for business or law since I don't study in those fields. Try and find some non-university sponsored reviews of Bond online to find out more. Another option would be to email some law firms on the Gold Coast and ask them what their opinion of Bond is. They'll have a better idea of the quality of graduate from there than anyone else and will be less likely to be biased towards any particular institution.

Australia has two private universities of which Bond is one. They are both the newest universities in the Country and have really no reputation to speak of. Most of the lecturers are PT not there all the time, the fees are high and the students for Bond mostly come from overseas or PR Australians (not citizens).. Be aware that Australian law is specific to Australia - most of the information will not be transferable to your own country.

It's a piece of crap. Basically a money making scam to rip-off wealthy people from the Orient. It has no academic reputation to speak of.

it really depends on what sort of course you want to do what the fees would be. at my uni (monash in melbourne) these are the sort of fees you'll be looking at: visual arts: $ 19000 AUD arts: $ 19400 AUD journalism: $ 20850 AUD business and commerce: $ 22480 AUD nursing: $ 21500 AUD primary education: $ 19650 AUD science: $ 24470 AUD social work: $ 18900 AUD law: $ 23600 AUD economics: $ 22480 AUD engineering: $ 25800 AUD computer science: $ 23800 AUD info tech: $ 23800 AUD medicine: $ 42300 AUD pharmacy: $ 27300 AUD so pretty much you're looking at a range between $18000 and $26000 unless you want to do medicine. I'm not sure that a permanent visa would reduce your fee. I think only citizenship will do that. unless you've been here for a while, and aren't just coming over to study, most of hte time you will not be able to apply for permanent residency until you've completed your studies. i think monash is a more expensive university though. so have a look around at other university sites. try these unis, their fees are lower for a lot of things: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/coursefinder/courseFind.jsp?level=UG&type=I http://vu.edu.au/library/scripts/objectifyMedia.aspx?file=pdf/570/53.pdf&siteID=4&str_title=2008 undergraduate course list.pdf this site has a list of all australian universities: http://www.australian-universities.com/list/

Best Law School In Victoria, Australia

Best Law School In Victoria, Australia?
I am seriously considering doing a Graduate Law Course and I'm trying to work out which university I should attend. I would go to ANU but I can't really move interstate. I've been trying to find information but it doesn't seem like there is a ranking of universities in Victoria by faculties. I am currently at La Trobe so I'm considering going there. But I know that Melbourne University is the best university in Victoria. However I want the best law school and I don't know how to work it out.

Hey mate, That's a tough question. I am not aware that we in Oz have law school rankings. Their rankings seem to be linked to the reputation of the university itself. What makes a good law school, I wonder? Is it how well students are taught the law and succeed in their careers? Is it how many are going into the big law firms after graduation? A niece of mine went to UQ (University of Queensland) law and was so appalled by the boring delivery that she left. UQ is a top university along the same rank as Melbourne Uni. I am attending (online) Charles Darwin Uni law, and while this university might be quite low ranked, the lecturers vary from brilliant to appalling, just like in the best of the universities. If in doubt, go for Melbourne or Monash uni. Pity you can't attend ANU, I'd go there in a blink but I can't leave my current employer. The main reason for ANU is its reputation overall, but its law school? I have heard of a friend who did their GDLP through ANU and he said it was the worst experience he's had in his law studies. So, there you have it.
