Forensic science is a lot different then television. Just to warn you... I think chemistry and Bio classes are most important.

You should do a little research and see what type of forensic scientist you want to be. If you were to get a job in that field, you would have one specialty. Its not like on TV where one person does all different types of lab analysis. Forensic biology is where you would analyze DNA evidence from body fluids such as blood, saliva, and semen. You also would do serology. In forensic chemistry, you can do trace analysis (analyze objects for various chemicals, composition, and matching material fragments), firearms, questioned documents, blood spatter analysis, etc. You will need a few physics courses in college but you should focus on whichever you prefer, chemistry or biology. If you like chemistry you can take general chem, organic chem, or physical chem. If you prefer biology you could take general biology, human physiology, or genetics if its offered. You are going to have to take all the classes you need in college, so just get a solid science background now and you will be fine :)

If you plan on staying in Adelaide you need to see what the jobs are like first. In some states you have to be a member of the police force first or have that type of background as well as science. Other states prefer a TAFE educated person who spends time first working in a general hospital pathology lab. It is as like what you see on TV like Australia is like that specific Simpsons episode. It is boring, low image, and extremely repetitive. Only the lab heads (the ones with a PhD and other qualifications) get to do any of the court room appearances. You are just a lab worker.
