Would i be able to use an Australian school ID in New Zealand to purchase alcohol even though i am 18

Would i be able to use an Australian school ID in New Zealand to purchase alcohol even though i am 18?
I lost my wallet with my drivers license and i leave tomorrow afternoon. All my friends in NZ want to go clubbing and drinking, yet the only ID i have is my school ID from Australia. Anybody know from experience if they accept or decline them, because i don't want to make a fake and i leave tomorrow =S

How about you don't purchase alcohol. Life is better without alcohol.

I think u shud be able too.. Its jusr identification. If it was a driver's license then you would be use tht as identification anywhere, same goes for ID cards

If you are travelling fron Aust to NZ and you are over 18, then you will only need to use your passport!!

No, use your passport!

If the student ID has both your photo and date of birth you may be able to use it, however most places would ask for your passport as ID in preference.

There are 3 types of ID acceptable legally. A NZ issued drivers licence, a passport from NZ or another country or an '18+ card'. Presumably, however, you have a passport. You will need to take that with you. Photocopies aren't acceptable but you should (however) take a copy of it and leave the copy somewhere safe in case it gets stolen or lost when you are out drinking. If you look under 25 or 30 the seller will most likely ask you for ID and they are well within their rights to not sell it. So your passport is the only legal ID you have. FWIW, some places will accept your school ID as proof of age but it won't be somewhere with a legal alcohol requirement. So if you can get (or instance) cheap bus tickets or entry fees that would probably be ok.
