(Australian) I know.. I'm in year 12.. and i bloody hate wearing the same $100 outfit every day. My school just made it compulsory for black leather shoes... hard to do PE in school shoes

In Canada, the only schools which wear uniforms daily are some private schools, and some faith based schools. The government and school boards tried to make uniforms mandatory here several years back, but it did not fly. The students petitioned that it would infringe on their rights, and would take away individuality. The school board and government argued that it would make everyone look the same, thus taking away reasons for people to be discriminated against. I don't agree with that. If it isn't your clothes, they will find something else to pick on.

We do have uniforms in the US, but only in private schools. I'm from the US but I did go to school in Ireland for a year where all schools, public and private, have uniforms too and I didn't like it. It was too much ironing, a bit frumpy, and I like expressing my style. In the US it just depends on the type of school, but the majority of schools its wear what you want... but all schools DO have dress codes that regulate what you can wear in the school building. For instance, at my old high school you couldn't wear skirts shorter than a certain length, tank tops couldn't have too thin of straps, and you couldn't show any midriff, boys couldn't wear their pants too baggy, etc.

In 1967 to 1970's marshalling pupils,marking time and marching into class from the playgrounds to a miltary style drum routine was in place in aussie state schools. Get em' whilst young eh ? This at their time of an "all white australia" policy. Real racism real fascism and it ain't changed on that level really that much. The aussies are uniform mad,even taxi drivers get fined for being out of uniform, which they must buy and launder themselves yet must advertise wearing a capitalist company logo,although all self employed. The majority of these individuals are immigrants,e.g. Asian, Indian, Somalis etc. Yanks call people in this situation of life "aliens" Long live Castro !! And if aussie must have it's cloning then place the long overdue indigenous people's lost generation apology on the back of EVERY school uniform from TODAY !!

LOLS i finished year 12 last year XD, feels abit weird not wearing uniforms after 12 years O____O
